Karnataka Lokayukta Conducts Raid on 58 Locations
On Wednesday, the Karnataka Lokayukta launched simultaneous raids at 58 different locations spread across the state, targeting government officials. Sources indicate that a specialized team comprising over 130 officers, including 13 SPs, 12 Deputy SPs, and 25 police inspectors, spearheaded the operation. These raids spanned various districts including Bengaluru, Bidar, Ramanagara, Uttara Kannada, and Kalaburagi.
Specifically, attention was directed towards five premises linked to the Chief Engineer of BBMP in Bengaluru. Additionally, the residences and properties of an executive engineer affiliated with the Water Resources Department in Kalaburagi, along with three locations in Bidar, were subjected to investigation. Furthermore, the residence of a Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) in Ramanagara district also came under scrutiny.
These raids were initiated following intelligence indicating potential wealth accumulation by officials disproportionate to their known sources of income. Despite the ongoing operations, the Lokayukta office has yet to release an official statement concerning these developments.
